WHY

Each year the Hannah Freedom School hosts a National Day of Social Action.  Freedom Schools all over the country select a theme or issue to highlight  that has national or local implications. This year the entire country is confronted by the ill effects of racism and white supremacy that manifests itself through the lens of police brutality and the murder of unarmed young people of color.  In response to the pull on that consciousness, the young people speak!

WHAT
The walkathon and rally, Stepping For Change  - Power, Education and Prosperity – Put  P.E.P. In Your Step:

Calls attention to the physical and mental assault on black and  brown youth of color, gives visibility to those often unnamed victims of violence; and urges local school districts, the Office Of Education, the Board of Supervisors, and other governmental entities to make deliberate and intentional investment in programs and services that create opportunity for children of color in Marin City and the county.

Consistent with Hannah's mission to cultivate the minds of children and accelerate the extermination of racial injustice, proceeds raised will allow the Hannah Project to extend: culturally based enrichment programming to elementary and high school students throughout the school year; reestablish the Dreamkeeper Scholarship Fund;create a Black Studies class for middle school and high school students; and explore the development of a dedicated fund to support investment in families and children in Marin City $2,000 of the proceeds will go to children In Malawi East Africa.

SPONSOR A CHILD
We are inviting parents and community members to sponsor a child in the walkathon.  Children will walk  2 miles or roughly 4,000 steps. We are requesting a penny  for each step or $40 per child.

Sponsorships can be paid by check to:  The Hannah Project Partnership, 3001 Bridgeway#422, Sausalito ,CA.  Please specify "Walkathon" in the check memo. Or you can pay by credit card by clicking Sponsor A Child button at bottom of this page.

INSTRUCTIONS

THE HANNAH FREEDOM SCHOOL WILL WALK FROM  MARIN CITY AT  9 AM TO THE BIKE PATH AND RETURN FOR A RALLY IN ROCKY GRAHAM PARK AT 11 AM. WE'RE ASKING COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO BE PRESENT IN THE PARK TO GREET THE CHILDREN WHEN THEY RETURN  AT APPROXIMATELY 10:45 AM. PROGRAM AND RALLY:  11AM - 12PM

PARKING:  If attending the rally, please park at the Gateway Shopping Center and walk to Graham Park.
